“Every visit back to Eagles Nest, to what my daughter, has affectionately named our home there, The Red House is exciting. Amidst the beautiful and unsurpassed surroundings of Eagles Nest is this undeniably profound experience we get each and every time we are in our mountain home. Whether its the horses grazing in the entrance we sometimes get to feed, the deer grazing at dusk or the live blues band playing on a weekend at The Great Camp that gives my son the chance to strum on their banjo during downtime, for us, the time we spend together as a family is so precious. Of course, my 5 year old loves most a fast drive around the hills in the Gator while my 2 year old, enjoys collecting stones from the ground. Each time, we find ourselves exploring new ways to enjoy the easy life in the mountains, a life that is so strikingly different than our hectic, overscheduled day to day at home in Miami. This summer, we are excited to horseback ride again with Ricardo (that is, if my favorite horse Grace is still waiting for me :-), take some nature walks and pick blueberries, experience the rapids of Tennesse, indulge in one too many s’mores, hit up the Mast General store in Boone for anything & everything and naturally, gem mine, a favorite of Isabella?s. July 4 in Banner Elk is fun, spirited and something both my children look forward to as beads and better yet, candy are flung their way. Oh, and throw on our cowboy boots. Whatever we do, its always something we long to repeat again each and every summer we return home.”
